Have you ever looked at someone else's beautiful glowing clear skin and wondered how you could achieve the same results? Here are three easy tried and true tips that are often overlooked that will help your skin glow again.
1.Wash your face with a soothing all natural face bar soap and ditch the liquid soaps including facial wash. Liquid soaps/washes have ingredients in them that strip your skin leaving it overly dry (either SLS or other ingredients that are used to make lather). Skin needs a healthy balance of oils to cleanse. Yes, you're skin needs oil. The key is washing your face with a mild soap that has naturally occurring lather such as our line of plant based bars that roll of dirt instead of stripping the skin. Soaps that get rid of dirt and grime without stealing your much needed protective barrier layers. Our gentle facial bar soaps such as our Spearmint Wheatgrass and Charcoal & Kaolin Clay are a great place to start. Well made bar soap doesn't need those additives. All liquid soap contain some form of SLS and harsh detergents because liquid soap does not lather without it. Bar soap is not chemically the same thing. Additionally, you should be washing your face twice a day. Once in the morning after you wake up and once before bed to rinse off all the dead skin, dirt, and pollution in the atmosphere. A full flower Damascus Rose Toner is a superb addition to calming further the acidity due to harsh water treatment or our everyday make-up regime that affect the PH of your skin. Our Damascus Rose Toner is 100 percent free of glycerin or witch hazel making it a great regime to any skin type. After you cleanse the face, spray toner evenly on the face and let it air dry. Then apply your facial cream and make-up
2. Exfoliate one to three times a week (depending on your skin type). If you have sensitive skin then you may want to limit exfoliation to once a week and when the weather is not too cold. Normal to oily skin types are usually able to handle more exfoliation. If you live in a city, you'll appreciate a soft soap sack and facial brush with a natural-made face bar. If you want that extra special experience, use a vitamin-fortified facial exfoliator with almond oil such as our Jumping Java Face & Body Luxurious Exfoliate. It not only exfoliates but also aids in calming and clearing up your skin using powerful plant botanicals such as evening primrose and borage flower along with essential fatty acids and pristine coffee beans to stimulate and tighten while promoting new skin formation while gently removing layers of dead unhealthy skin over time. When you exfoliate you stimulate your skin's cell turn over and healing properties like estrogen which helps with fine lines and wrinkles. Give it a few months to see real results. It's worth it.
3. Steam your face. After washing your face, you should gently steam your skin. Hydration is important. I prefer the nano steamers. Facial steaming allows your facial serum and creams to go deeper and absorb better. Steaming is such an easy tool and should be a part of your regular skincare routine. When you have problematic skin or blackheads or skin that lacks a healthy glow, you will certainly benefit from a light steam to open the pores on your face while hydrating your skin. Using special blackhead removing tools is helpful if you are gentle and knowledgeable. Additionally, you may want to exfoliate while the pores of your skin are open from the warming steam. Never pinch or force a black head when your pores are cooled and closed. Light pressure is all that is needed to remove blackheads when your skin is warm and moist. Always remember to rinse your skin with cool water when you are finished steaming to close the pores back up (unless you are going to apply a serum or cream of course).
As always you want to be using a moisturizing day cream and some sort of night repair. I personally use all of the above and a rose toner. This help to shrink pores after you steam and/or cleanse your skin using the three steps above. I like toners because there are days when I don't want anything on my skin at night and toners are especially lovely when your skin is very sensitive. When I visit New York or go snow skiing my skin get's very sensitive and I must have my rose toner with me to calm my sensitive skin down. I don't leave home without my day and night cream either.
